I came to know Mr. Franklyn Johnson Williams (I refer to him as Mr. Bonnie) in the year 2000 at the Ballanta Academy of Music when I registered for Music theory and Trumpet. He was very thorough and disciplined in his approach and above all - he knew his stuff (music). He taught me music theory in practice and the art of trumpet playing. Mr. Bonnie also gave me the opportunity to perform on stage as a soloist and also with an ensemble. He established a brass ensemble known as "Pets & Bones"(two trumpets and two trombones) and also introduced me to the business of music.
Through his teaching I acquired life skills - confidence, teamwork, social skills, responsibility and also to become self-reliant (making money through music). Amongst his many qualities, I was attracted to his love for music, his humility and integrity. I was very blessed to be one of his students and as a result of what he imparted to me, I was admitted to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree (Music) at the Methodist University College in Ghana which I have now completed and I am very grateful to Mr. Johnson-Williams for his mentorship. Because of him, I am now the Director of Music for the Sierra Leone Police Band.
Just a short note to say thank you for your Stella performance at the Methodist Girls’ High School Old Girls’ Associations (MGHSOGAS), Praise and Worship Service. We are still getting compliments about the Service with your name at the very top. You were indeed the icing on the cake. You knew what the audience wanted and the attention that you paid to the details of each opportunity was awesome to watch and clear to see. Thanks again, we are grateful for the way that you enhanced our Praise and Worship Service.

It is with much enthusiasm that I write of the outstanding services of Bonnie Jazz.
He performed at my mother’s 70-year surprise birthday party. His performance far exceeded my expectations. He played classics from the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s. Throughout the evening, I received great reviews from our guests, many of whom requested his business card.
Bonnie Jazz is a 5-star professional. It is for this reason that he will always be a part of my events, and I am happy to recommend his services to anyone.

You’re truly a legend!
On behalf of our entire family, I would like to thank you for your musical presentations during The Canon Rev. Dr. William B. Lewis and Tabitha A. Lewis' 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, November 29, 2019. As I mentioned to you, your musical/trumpeting presentation was truly amazing and impressive and enriched our program!
The Lewis Family
Thanks so much for entertaining our residents.
They are still talking about how much they enjoyed your show last Friday. Many found themselves dancing or singing along. We are very glad you will be coming once a month in 2020!
Thank you very much, we enjoy a lot your music, you are a very good musician, we have fun when you come to visit us.
Franklyn never disappoints! His performance is stellar with surprises of trumpet solos and singing. He is able to get our Residents engaged. They clap and dance non stop. We have a lot of happy people after he has entertained.
Hector J Fontanez
Franklyn's music teaching method really resonates with our children. They have a love for music and he is developing them to foster and develop their love for music. The growth that we've seen with our two boys has been phenomenal, really impressive. One has a newfound joy in practicing his drums and now aspires to join our church's jr worship team! We were enjoying our youngest practicing "How great is our God" on piano and my wife and I looked at each other and we unanimously agreed that we are doing the right thing by God and our family.
The residents at Tudor Heights look forward each month when Franklin is performing. They love his energy and passion for entertaining. What they love most is, his own interpretation of classics, oldies and American standards in his own "World Music". The community looks forward to the next program of his.
Bonnie, you recently came to perform for our residents at The Village at Rockville. Your presentation was very uplifting and professional. Our residents, families and staff all enjoyed your show.

Dear Mr. Bonnie Johnson-Williams,
Thank you so much for providing such beautiful selections of music at our AWOGA Washington’s AWMS 170th Anniversary Symposium in the Riderwood Retirement Center on July 19th 2019. Your promptness, warmth and professionalism added a level of classy tone to the evening. We really enjoyed hearing your soothing choices of music and watching you play the various instruments were quite amazing to all of us. Also, we received a lot of complements on your music and how it added ambience to the event.
We hope you will honor our invitation in the future to be of service to the association. Best wishes for continued success in your musical performances.
The AWOGA Washington’s AWMS 170th Anniversary Symposium Committee

Much thanks to Bonnie for his willingness to serve as our musical genius during our Women's Day Breakfast. His ability to render the right songs transcended into a memorable festive morning. Looking forward to next year!
Thank you Bonnie for your impact on our little girl's life. The piano and flute lessons have helped her grow, not only musically, but also as a person. We are grateful for the passion, dedication and professionalism you bring to each lesson.
Keep up the good work!
BonnieJazz brought great joy to the Winter Growth seniors! He played music from all genres and played tunes from different decades to accommodate the vary of ages in the audience. He got the entire crowd up and dancing and left a warm feeling in the room after his performance. Winter Growth is excited to have BonnieJazz music back for some summer fun!
Thank you for bringing so much music to our home. The kids play morning and night. Because of your lessons our son plays drums better than ever and our daughter, after only a few weeks of lessons, performs regularly in church and has taken up singing. They are even trying to form an entire band.
Well done Bonnie, it was nice to see you and hear you play again. You are a true inspiration and gift to the African community in the US and abroad. I hope I can bring you to Atlanta one day so you can show case what God has blessed you with. Stay bless and continue to inspire people with your musical gift.
I am looking for level 1 to 4 popular African songs (including gospel) for piano similar to (Its Time to Play Piano). Please advise what I have to do to get copy.

Hi Mr. Johnson-Williams,
I'm happy to learn about your website. Thanks for your contribution to music in different parts of the world and, more importantly, thanks for being my first teacher at The Ballanta Academy of Music.
Sir Bonnie, my tutor/mentor/bro/friend a living legend throughout ages. When someone comes in contact with you is not by chance but Divine will of God. Your musical ability brings life, love and joy to all worldwide. Let the beat go on, keep shinning FOREVER!!!!!!!!
Excellent work Bonnie! Continue to be an inspiration to all. Let God's blessings continue to descend upon you and bring divine favor.

Bonnie, I am Chairman of the East Riding of Yorkshire Band in Hulkl and we are looking for links with bands in Freetown in regard to Hull city of culture 2017. I have read your piece on music education and am interested in the social and musical benefits of the Black Dyke visit in 1992. Best regards
Mr. Bonnie was an amazing teacher. He taught me a lot on playing the saxophone and there was never a boring moment with him around. He is very supportive and encouraging but not pushy, he makes you really WANT to improve not feel like you have to for someone else.
Bonnie has been a huge inspiration. After seeing him play different kinds of instruments and seeing how talented he is, it inspired me to learn how to play the guitar and the piano. He is an amazing teacher and has taught me a great deal in a short amount of time.
Thank you and wishing you all the best :)
Abdel Rahman ( Noony ) Alian
Bonnie helped me with my piano and now I can play a really hard Mosart song .
Noony ( aged 8)
Bonney was very helpful. Thanks to him I have managed to start playing drums. When I was learning with him it was an experience to remember. I learnt to play songs and beats with him. I suggest Bonney if you want to learn music.
Hamza (aged 9)
I met Bonnie through a friend and I saw him performing at a formal ball, he was amazing!
Bonnie feels the music and shares this with his audience! Later we managed to get him as our sons piano teacher. Our son had played several years and wanted to move away from the classical music. Bonnie tought him amazingly fast and also took away the fear of singing while playing an instrument! We wish Bonnie all the best for his future!!! Hopefully our paths will cross again!!
Bonnie was really an amazing teacher, better than I had ever had before. On the first lesson I was already playing my favorite song in a very simple way. Bonnie made it easy and tought me the basics of chords and how just four easy chords could play the song i liked. Definitely recommend Bonnie !!!
Ahmad Al Hijji
I learned a lot of drum skills and beats from you and also you made me love drums.
You taught me well specially when you play the piano and sing with me.
Ahmad Al Hijji
Bonnie was a private guitar teacher to my son Armand (14 years old). What I liked about Bonnie was that he was obviously passionate about music - obvious from his interaction with my son, but also that he could play a range of musical instruments, enjoyed a range of genres, and was involved in music in his professional and private time. He had a very nice way of teaching (not something you find everywhere), and I would highly recommend him.
In Armand's words: "Bonnie was a great guitar teacher. He was patient and interactive. He developed my guitar skills significantly in a short time, and gave me an oppportunity to play songs that I liked"
Bonnie taught music to my three children:
My oldest was busy with piano exam lessons but board with learning music until Bonnie taught the theroy and practice of formal exam music through popular, fun songs.
Bonnie taught my 2nd child how to feel the rhythm of the guitar and play music through hearing the notes. She still follows this method, becoming a better musician even when no teacher is available.
My youngest child was taught to play piano by Bonnie - he took her enthusiasm and grew it, working with her activeness so that playing the piano was as fun as she hoped it would be.
I recommend Bonnie as a teacher for any child, and adults who want learning to be fun.
You were the best teacher I had. You taught me in a completely different way from any other tutors past and present. I opened up to singing while playing the piano, you were so full of energy and so enthusiastic that I looked forward to my lesson every week. Sadly you moved and I have not been able to find a teacher who inspired me like you did.
Jack Braddock k
As a total beginner to Guitar I thought it might be difficult but in the first lesson I was already playing, wow! The lessons were fun, lots of singing to! The enjoyment came first and the actual reading of the music wasn't priority which is why I kept playing. I sadly haven't found another Fun, teacher like you.
You have helped me so much to become a better guitar player. You teached me in a very fun way and I would always look forward to guitar lessons.
Kind regards, Lisa
Hey Mr. Bonnie.
I would just like to say how thankful I am for you inspiring me to become the best guitarist I can be, you made the hardest of songs easy to play, and have taught me a wonderful gift I will cherish for the rest of my life.
Hi Bonnie, we were very sad that we moved away and could not continue with your piano teaching. Carla enjoyed your lessons very much and you made her feel appreciated and successful. You are a very good teacher and nice to be around with. We wish you much success and all the best for the future!
Carla and Christiane
hello there Bonnie,
I hope you are OK and still teach other kids to play any kind of instrument. You truely were the best!
Bas Willlem Siermann
I hope you are doing alright, I really miss you and had a hard time to find somebody to replace you, you really where the best teacher ever and how you played really inspired me.
Mr. Bonnie is a great teacher. He focus on equipping his students with the tools necessary to learn music they enjoy rather than learning music assigned by a mentor. He has a great personality and allows you to feel the music as you play it.
Mr. Bonnie had taught me for only a few months but it has a been a very rewarding time and I had enjoyed every class with him. He always made sure I understand everything he explains and was very flexible with the classes times. I passed my grade 5 theory exam with distinction after he helped clarify many things in the syllabus that helped me get a high grade, and also helped me a lot with understanding rhythm more and to find new ways to plan my practice routines to improve my guitar performance.
Wow...well done and good job.
Hi Mr Bonnie how are you. I really miss you I just wanted to say thank you for

learning drums with you. She is absolutly thrilled. Thanx so very much.
My first encounter with Mr. Johnson-Williams, was way back in 1995/1996. I had the opportunity to attend the Youth for Christ Camp in Freetown, Sierra Leone. He was one of our camp leaders was actively involved in music, teaching and counseling. He was a great mentor and since then, he has made an impact in my life. His style of playing the trumpet was unique and we all referred to him as "Bonnie the Trumpeter". Keep it up. God bless you.
Thank you very much indeed for making your version of Take 5 available for trumpet. My son Moses is 9 years old and is working on grade 5 trumpet. He heard you play it and asked for me to get the music. We will put him on You tube when he's learnt it!! Could you tell us where you got the backing music? Yours gratefully, the Burtons in Chester UK
Hope you and the family are keeping well in Egypt. God bless and praying for you all.

I came to know you through my son Jeffrey during your camp at AWMS about 18 or more years ago. When he returned home, he never stopped talking about how much you know music, since then I wanted to meet and know you, when I finally met and knew you, I became interested in everything you did and showed it by the little support I had then, because I knew you would do well in life. You have not disappointed me.I am blessed to have you as my friend.
